Suppressor guide
Buying a suppressor in CT
Blue Cord Firearms is a Powered By Silencer Shop dealer with a Silencer Shop fingerprint kiosk in our Oxford shop. In Connecticut you still need an approved ATF Form 4 before you take a suppressor home. Here's the process, in plain English.

How it Works:
Check that it's legal for you in Connecticut
Suppressors can be owned in Connecticut, but you can't hunt with one. Connecticut law (§ 53a-211) still ties owning a suppressor to federal approval, so even though ATF changed its rules for other states in October 2026, Connecticut buyers still need an approved ATF Form 4 before taking one home.
Create your two accounts
Set up a Silencer Shop account and an ATF eForms account. Your full legal name and email must match exactly on both. Keep your eForms username, password and PIN somewhere safe, and never share them with anyone, including us.
Pick your suppressor and choose Blue Cord as your dealer
Shop on Silencer Shop and select Blue Cord Firearms as your dealer before you check out. You answer the registration questions once and Silencer Shop fills in your Form 4. You can own it yourself or through a trust; a Single Shot trust can be added at checkout.
Buy it hereUpload your photo
Upload a passport-style photo through the Silencer Shop app or website. It stays valid for a year.
Scan your fingerprints at the Blue Cord kiosk
Come in and scan your fingerprints on the Silencer Shop kiosk in our shop. No ink cards and nothing to mail, and your prints are saved for your next suppressor. Call or text to book a time.
Certify and submit with us
You'll get an e-signature request by email. Then you and Blue Cord certify and submit the Form 4 to ATF together, in about 15 minutes, using your own eForms login. The tax stamp is now $0.
Wait for ATF approval
Your Silencer Shop dashboard shows where things stand and flags anything missing. You and Blue Cord both get an email when ATF approves the transfer.
Pick it up at Blue Cord
Call ahead, bring your ID, fill out the Form 4473 and take your suppressor home. Keep a copy of your approved Form 4, and carry it when you take the suppressor to the range: in Connecticut, it's your proof that you're allowed to own it.
Rules are changing fast. This guide is a summary, not legal advice: check with us, your ATF eForms account or a Connecticut firearms attorney before you buy.
