This is the class required by the State of Connecticut to obtain a pistol permit. This one-day course mixes classroom instruction with time on the range shooting revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. What you'll cover: The classroom portion ends with a written test, followed by live fire at the range. Students who complete the course receive a certificate of completion to submit with their Connecticut permit application. No prerequisites and no gun needed. Students must be 18 or older. Under Connecticut law you must be 21 to get a pistol permit or to buy a semi-automatic centerfire rifle; at 18 your certificate counts toward a long gun eligibility certificate. Women's only sessions are marked in the schedule.
- Rules for safe gun handling
- Pistol parts and how they operate
- Ammunition basics
- Shooting fundamentals and the two-handed standing position
- Range rules
